REthinking our relationship with ANIMALS.
Millions of animals are farmed in Greece every year for food, clothing and other products.
Most of them live out of sight.
We want to make them visible.
REthink ANIMALS investigates, documents and exposes what happens to animals behind the closed doors of farms across Greece — and works to change the systems that cause their suffering.
MISSION
To drive social and systemic change for farmed animals in Greece by exposing the realities they face, challenging the norms and practices that enable their exploitation, and mobilising people and institutions to act.
VISION
A world where animals are recognised as sentient beings and are no longer exploited.

WE KNOW YOU CARE.
Most people don’t want animals to suffer.
And yet, the reality faced by millions of farmed animals remains largely hidden from view.
We believe that change starts with knowledge.
Through research and evidence, we bring to light what usually remains unseen.
We help people look again at our relationship with animals and question practices we have learned to accept as normal.
Our goal is to turn that knowledge into a force for change: through awareness, mobilisation and pressure for meaningful changes in the way society and institutions treat animals.
To make visible what remains hidden. To challenge what is taken for granted. And to change our relationship with animals.

Τι συμβαίνει στα ελληνικά εκτροφεία;

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
What happens on farms in Greece?
The images we see on packaging and in advertising do not show us the whole reality.
REthink ANIMALS works to document and provide evidence of the real conditions in which farmed animals live in Greece.
Through field investigations, audiovisual documentation, analysis of public data, scientific research and collaboration with experts, we bring to light what would otherwise remain unseen.
We do not simply expose what is happening.
We use the evidence to demand change.

OUR WORK
It is not enough to know. We have to change things.
We expose what is happening.
We investigate and document the conditions in which animals live and die.
We challenge what we have learned to accept as normal.
We turn research and scientific evidence into information that everyone can understand and use.
REVEAL
RECONSIDER
RECOGNISE
We recognise animals as individuals.
Behind every number is a sentient being with needs, preferences and their own experience of the world.
REFORM
We advocate for institutional and corporate change.
We engage with and put pressure on institutions, policymakers and businesses to secure changes that can improve the lives of large numbers of animals.

REIMAGINE
We build a different relationship with animals.
We work towards a future in which our choices, businesses and public policies no longer treat animals simply as products or resources.
ΓΙΑΤΙ ΕΠΙΚΕΝΤΡΩΝΟΜΑΣΤΕ ΣΤΑ ΖΩΑ ΕΚΤΡΟΦΗΣ;

WHY DO WE FOCUS ON FARMED ANIMALS?
In Greece, as in much of the world, public discussion around animal protection often focuses on companion animals.
And yet, the number of animals farmed for human use is vastly greater, and their lives are shaped almost entirely by the systems into which they are born.
That is why REthink ANIMALS focuses its work where we believe we can achieve change for the greatest possible number of animals.

The animals who suffer the most are often the ones we see the least.
CAMPAIGNS
Changing systems, not just individual cases.

A new investigative campaign
FROM EXPOSURE TO CHANGE
Investigation is the beginning, not the end.

We identify a problem.
We investigate and document it.

We bring it into the public conversation.
We mobilise the public and the media.

We seek commitments from institutions and businesses.

We push for changes in practices, policies and legislation.
We measure whether things have actually changed for animals.

Why REthink ANIMALS;

Because change requires us to re-examine what we take for granted
To re-examine our assumptions.
To rethink our choices.
To reimagine the systems we have created.

Because we want to put animals themselves back at the centre of the conversation.
Not as products.
Not as numbers.
Not as «production units».
As individuals.
REthink ANIMALS is our name. Our challenge:
Look again. Question what we have learned to accept. Reimagine our relationship with animals.
OUR VALUES
JUSTICE
We believe animals deserve to be taken seriously.
We work towards a world where animals’ interests are recognised and their exploitation is no longer taken for granted or considered acceptable.
COMPASSION
We try to see the world through their experience too.
We recognise animals as sentient beings with their own needs, preferences and interests, and we place their experience at the heart of our work.
EVIDENCE
Our work is grounded in evidence, not assumptions.
We use research, scientific knowledge and reliable data to shape our positions and strategies and to pursue the greatest possible impact for animals.
COURAGE
We are not afraid to challenge what is taken for granted.
We bring difficult realities to light, ask difficult questions and challenge entrenched beliefs and practices when they cause harm to animals.
COLLABORATION
Change does not happen in isolation.
We build meaningful partnerships, share knowledge and pursue collective action with those who can contribute to a better reality for animals.
TRANSPARENCY
We want our work to be open and clear.
We strive for honesty and clarity about who we are, what we aim to achieve, how we work and the impact we create.
ACCOUNTABILITY
We take responsibility for how we work and for the results we achieve.
We evaluate our choices and impact, acknowledge our mistakes, learn from them and continually work to become more effective for animals.
TAKE ACTION
Change needs people.
You don’t have to do everything.
You just have to do something.
Help us expose what remains hidden.
Investigations, documentation, campaigns and advocacy require people, time and resources.
Your support allows us to continue working for the animals whose lives behind closed doors are rarely seen.
